Help Save Manatees

Over 800 Florida manatees have died in just eight months -- making it the deadliest year ever.

These gentle giants have lost their primary food source, seagrass, due to dirty water and are starving to death.

But lack of food isn’t the only problem.

Hundreds of manatees are hit and killed every year by boats.

We must act to save manatees before they are gone for good.

Complete the following three steps and, for a limited time, GreaterGood will fund the protection of 21.8 square feet of wildlife habitat..

2 Florida manatees are dying at an alarming rate.

3 More help is needed:

In 2017, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service downgraded the status of manatees to threatened from endangered, even though the species never really recovered.

The beloved marine mammals are facing many threats: loss of habitat and main food source, changes in water temperature, and boat collisions.

Boat collisions alone are responsible for 20% of manatee deaths each year.

The Center for Biological Diversity has been fighting for manatees for decades and will keep working to earn greater protections for these giant gray "mermaids".
